Centre for Womens' Justice - Stop Criminalising Survivors

According to government data, at least 57% of women in prison and under probation supervision are victims/survivors of domestic abuse. For many of these women, their experience of abuse is directly connected to their alleged offending.

Five victims/survivors of domestic abuse have sharer their stories of criminalisation in a new series of short films launched by the Centre for Women’s Justice.  The films and accompanying five-minute briefings are intended to raise awareness about the need to prevent the unjust criminalisation of victims/survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of violence against women and girls, and the reforms needed to law, policy and practice to achieve this. Our intended audience includes politicians, policy makers and practitioners throughout the criminal justice system, as well as students and the general public.
