Supporting Solace VAWG Housing First Project

Olwyn has been supporting Solace’s VAWG Housing First Project over the past three years. The project runs specialist Housing First Projects in Islington and Westminster for women experiencing multiple disadvantage.

The VAWG Housing First for Women in Westminster responds to the unique and often unmet needs of women experiencing long-term homelessness, multiple disadvantage and male violence against women and girls (VAWG). It is built on the Housing First fidelity principles, and critically creates a gender informed response that meets the needs of women, working in partnership with Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse and supported 46 women to change their life outcomes in 2022-23.

Housing First Project workers support service users in accessing furniture, setting up bills and rent payments, maximising income, accessing local services and re-integrating with the community. Keyworkers visit at least once a week and have a small caseload so can offer fairly flexible support.
